Identify the item before comparing prices
Write down the item type, manufacturer, size, edition, inscriptions and condition. For a card, include the year, set, card number and any serial number. For a jersey, distinguish a retail or commemorative item from a claim that it was worn in a game.
Ask for current photographs of the whole piece, the signature, labels, hologram and accompanying documents. Keep claims such as “game worn” or “signed in person” separate from facts supported by records. A signature opinion does not establish a separate game-use claim.
