BAS (Beckett Authentication Services)

A third-party authentication company that grades and authenticates autographs.

Beckett Authentication Services (BAS) is one of the three major autograph authentication companies, alongside PSA and JSA. Originally known primarily for sports card grading, Beckett expanded into autograph authentication and has become a trusted name in the hobby.

BAS offers two main services: "witnessed" authentication, where a Beckett representative is present at a signing event, and "review" authentication, where collectors mail in items for examination by their team of signature analysts.

Beckett-authenticated items receive a tamper-proof hologram sticker with a unique certification number. Collectors can verify any BAS-certified item through the Beckett online database by entering the certification number.

BAS is particularly popular for sports cards, jerseys, and equipment. Their pricing structure is competitive with PSA and JSA, starting around $20-30 per item for standard submissions. They also offer expedited services for higher fees.

In the secondary market, BAS-authenticated autographs are widely accepted and command strong premiums, though PSA and JSA may carry slightly higher premiums for certain categories. BAS is an excellent choice for collectors seeking reliable authentication at competitive prices.
